Chamomile flowers
The name chamomile or «Chamomilla» comes from the Greek words «chama» - land and «mellon» - apple. It was named "Ground apple" by the Roman writer Pliny the Elder, author of "Natural History", because of the smell, reminiscent of the aroma of fresh apples. Other Latin name «Matricaria» («uterine grass"), comes from the Latin «matrix» ( «the queen"), which is explained by the traditional use of plants for the treatment of gynecological diseases.
